Party Planning Made Easy!

1. Who will plan the Bridal Shower?
Generally the host of the party is the maid of honor or brides maid. The bride should work with the brides maid in planning the details.

2. Guest List
Organize your guest list by asking the bride, bride's mother, and the groom's mother who they would like to invite to the shower. Typically, a bridal shower is a "girl's only" shower. After you have a guest list, it will be easier to plan a budget. Remember, do not invite anyone who that teh bride is not planning on inviting to the wedding.

3. Budget
The maid os honor and/or brides maid and mother of the bride are traditionally responsible for the expenses. I personally recommend that an estimate be made, with the entire bridal party and mother of the bride equally sharing expenses.

4. Select the date and location
Select a location that will accomodate the guests, the bride, and the needs of the size of the party. If you are planning a theme, consider this when planning the location. The bridal shower is normally around 6 - 8 weeks before the wedding. Try to make the time and day convenient for wveryone.

5. Selecting the menu
You should consider the time of day as well as the number of guests. If you are having a theme, your menu should reflect the theme, I recommend keeping it simple. Sandwiches such as chicken salad sandwiches or a deli tray are easy and economical. Have some side dishes: pasta salad, macaroni salad, potato salad and/or rigitoni. Don't just have punch. Be sure to have soda pop and coffee. I also recommend having some kind of dessert. Buy a personalized cake at a minimum. Make cookies too!

7. Decorations and games
Don't forget to plan 2 - 3 "fun" bridal shower games. Remember to buy around 20 or more small gift prize worth no more than $1 - $2 each. A great way to make gift opening more fun is to have a timer set for every 3 minutes or whatever time limit you choose. Whosever gift is being opened when teh timer goes off, wins a prize. How much decorations you choose is completely up to you. Don't forget the party favors. Don't forget to take lot's of pictures. If you have someone who can do a video, that would be great too!

Writing an Invitation Made Easy!

1. You will want to include the type of event (birthday, bridal shower, etc.)

2. You will want to include the place, date and time. If you are having an R.S.V.P., include the R.S.V.P. date and a contact person (s) with phone number.

3. Be specific about who is invited, whether it be addresee only or if they can bring a guest. If they are married and/or have children, list their names if they are invited.

4. You should include the person (s) hosting the occasion.

Tips: If the invite is for a type of event that honors someone (baby or bridal shower) make sure to include that persons name.

Have fun - for bridal showers ask guests to bring their favorite recipe to share with the bride.

For birthdays - ask everyone to write down something special about the birthday person or write down a memorable occasion (you provide the paper for the note) and give them to the birthday person in a special vase or decorated jar.

If guests are not from the area, make sure to include a map and location of the party. You will want to include the names and phone numbers of local hotels for guests who will be spending the night. Try www.mapquest.com

Send the invitation in advance depending upon the formality of the occasion.
Casual Dinners - 2 weeks
Baby or Bridal Showers - 3 - 4 weeks
Birthday Party 2 - 3 weeks
Weddings - 6 - 8 weeks
